Our catalogs have grown from just representing materials we own to include materials we have access to, or more directly, can link to. Cataloging has grown, changed, and adapted to accommodate this shift. New standards, new thesauri, and a focus on linked data promises to push the boundaries of the catalog even further.
Please join NOTSL and NORASIST for their joint meeting “Going Global in Your Local Catalog” as they explore FAST (Faceted Applications of Subject Terminology) which is available as linked data, and how it can be used and other ways and methods for incorporating non-traditional data into your bibliographic records.
Speakers include:
Jeff Mixter, Research Support Specialist, OCLC Research
Chew Chiat Naun, Director, Cataloging & Metadata Services, Olin Library, Cornell University
Adam Wead, Analyst, Penn State University
